Synopsis

Charlie confesses to Ruth that he has been cooking the books at the store to have the money to spend on her that she expected. When Charlie doesn't report to work and a burnt-out shell of a body is discovered in his crashed car, Ruth is suspected of being his accomplice. Charlie's last letter to his brother had asked him to look after Ruth so David offers her a job, but it is clear he holds her responsible for what happened to Charlie.
