Synopsis

Lyre, a publicist for Duram & Daly Circus, sees a New Times article about finding an American girl in Africa and hatches a scheme to lure Rulah to New York City. He hires a boy, Tadpole, to feign a fatal illness and a dying wish to see Rulah. The story makes its way to Commissioner Blodgett, who pays to fly her to the boy. Tadpole regrets his deception and confesses to Rulah, who goes to Madison Square Garden to teach Lyre a lesson.
