The 1971 date given in the indicia is a joke, part of a running gag that all issues of Spunk Comics were originally produced in the 1970s. The cover price of $0.50 is just for nostalgia towards 1970's underground comics; the actual price was $4.00. The few copies that were sold retail have a $4.00 price sticker attached (most copies were sold thru the mail and do not have the $4.00 sticker).
