Synopsis

Ann's loyalties are divided between Tom and her mother, a widow of delicate health. But Ann's mother is the sort of woman who enjoys being an invalid and uses her health to get attention from Ann. Although Tom wants to live alone with Ann after they are married, he is persuaded to move in and live together with Ann's mother. But Ann's mother thinks Tom isn't doing enough for them and eventually Tom steals money from work to buy things they can't afford.
