Only 100 of these mostly blank copies were printed. They were all then given to 100 different artist's who drew, painted, etc... on the blank covers.

The purpose of this project was to collect the images of all 100 finished covers in a book, known as the "New Avengers 100 Project":

The hardcover edition of the "New Avengers 100 Project" book was limited to 500 copies. The softcover, through special arrangement with Marvel Comics, was limited to one (1) initial printing and will not ever be reprinted.
