This version 21 cm x 30 cm (landscape orientation). Later reformatted to the 8.5" x 5.5" size used by the rest of the series.

First U.K. publication. This title allegedly didn't have unusual sales, but when they followed it up with a translation of Marx for Beginners, also by Rius, that title was successful enough that Writers and Readers decided to build a series around the format, commissioning writers and artists to create new For Beginner books and retroactively establishing this title as the first in the series.

Cuba for Beginners had already been translated and printed in the U.S. by a couple of different publishers. This is presumably the reason the title was not among those picked up in the U.S. by Pantheon. After the Writers and Readers Cooperative disbanded in the U.K. and Writers and Readers Publishing was formed in the U.S., they had several For Beginners titles, including this one, re-published in the U.K. by Unwin Paperbacks.
