About Dynamite Entertainment

Dynamite was founded in 2004 by Nick Barrucci, who already ran Dynamic Forces, a comics distributor and retailer. That starting point shaped the company: it is built on licensing rather than on characters of its own.

Much of its catalog is older properties given new runs — Red Sonja, Vampirella, the Green Hornet, Zorro, Army of Darkness — alongside licensed film and television tie-ins. Its most visible book was an original: The Boys, by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, which moved to Dynamite after DC dropped it and later became a long-running television series.
