About Now
NOW Comics was founded in Chicago in 1985 by Tony Caputo, and made its name on licences rather than on characters of its own — which in the mid-1980s meant material aimed at readers the direct market was not otherwise serving.
The Terminator, the Green Hornet, Speed Racer, Astro Boy and Married... with Children all had NOW series, alongside originals such as Ralph Snart Adventures. Its Terminator comics in particular ran well ahead of the licence becoming an obvious thing to own.
The company was hit hard by the collapse of the speculation boom, ceased publishing in the mid-1990s, and resurfaced only briefly afterwards.
