Antarctic Press

Antarctic Press was founded in San Antonio, Texas in 1984 by Ben Dunn, an American artist drawing in a manga idiom years before Japanese comics were widely available in English.

Ninja High School, which Dunn began in 1987, is among the earliest sustained American comics in that style, and Gold Digger has run for decades since. The company gave a first home to a generation of American creators who had grown up on Japanese comics and had nowhere obvious to publish.

It is still independent and still based in San Antonio.
