Marvel heroes
- First published 1971
A "non-team" of heroes, the Defenders had a frequently changing membership that was often anchored by Dr. Strange and the Hulk. Later the team became more formalized with former original X-Men members Angel, Beast and Iceman establishing a base for the team in Colorado. Subsequent to the formal group of Defenders breaking up, several revivals of Defenders teams, typically led by Dr. Strange, have occurred.
