Department K is a secret Canadian government intelligence branch operating in the Marvel Universe. It specializes in covert superhuman programs and was the organization that revived and ran a Canadian iteration of the Weapon X Program, experimenting on operatives such as Garrison Kane and Wade Wilson to replicate enhanced abilities like Wolverine’s healing factor. Department K also assembled the strike team Weapon P.R.I.M.E. and was involved in behavioral reconditioning efforts for other superhuman subjects. Its projects helped shape multiple enhanced individuals and teams but also attracted controversy; for example, Deadpool’s origin ties directly to Department K’s Weapon X work, which ultimately collapsed after a major breakout. The agency has operated in facilities in Alberta and Newfoundland and maintains covert status within Canadian intelligence.
