Synopsis
Ellen wants the boy across the plaza where she lives to notice her. He finally does speak to her one day when a car back-fires, startling the pigeons where they are walking. But she discovers that he is as shy as she is. A year passes and she is no nearer to him. She goes to a children's playground the next morning and thinks how easy it is for children. Then she waits for him and when she sees him again, she bets him she can swing higher than he can.
