Synopsis

With no family, Polly takes each vacation from school looking for a holiday job. With one year left before graduation, she is hired to be home help for a man who lives with his kid brother and sister on a small, remote island in the Shetlands. She loves it there and soon he asks her to marry him. All's well until the kid sister tells Polly how glad she is that Polly has "passed the test". Without realizing how Polly was interpreting their conversation, Jean tells Polly how Don could never have married the last girl because she couldn't cook and found the island too lonely.
