Synopsis

Ruth's overbearing parents have caused her to be so shy she has no friends. Jean wants to help Ruth and when Betty comes down with the flu, Craig asks her to find a replacement for their double date with Spencer. Going on the date without her parents' consent, Ruth is paired with Spencer, but there seems to be a spark between Spencer and Jean. The double dates continue and Ruth starts to fall for Spencer, but he eventually tells Jean that he isn't interested in Ruth and wants her. When Jean tells Ruth how they feel, Ruth feels betrayed and runs away from home.
