Synopsis

After her father’s death, Diane gets a job as a typist, turning down her childhood sweetheart Dave’s offer to leave college, get a job, and marry her. Former schoolmate Freddy urges her to come to New York, promising she'll find work as a model. However, “models are a dime a dozen” and she becomes a “dreary, under-paid...city white collar worker!” Diane writes to Dave, pretending to be a success, but he reads between the lines and visits her, reaffirming his love. Although she receives a modeling offer at the last minute, Diane decides to go home and marry Dave.
