The title in the indicia is "Kabuki vol. 1, #1" but the title on the cover is "Kabuki: Fear the Reaper, Act 1" with "Issue One" listed under the publisher's logo.
This one-shot was originally intended to be published by Anubis Press, as per their advertisement in Urban Decay: Fork / Urban Decay: Zero Joe #0, though they ceased operations before it was released. Commonly mistaken as Kabuki's first published stories, though there'd previously been a Kabuki: Fear the Reaper (ashcan) (circa October 1994) as well as her July 1994 appearances in the Razor / Shi Special (London Night Studios) and the High Caliber: An Anthology of Original Visions (Caliber Press) collection.
